Built-In Protection: NHOU® Oil Undercoating Features

During manufacturing, thousands of welds and bends compromise the metal’s factory coating—inviting corrosion. Rust doesn’t just look bad; it weakens structural integrity and affects steering and suspension. NHOU® petroleum-based protection stays fluid, sealing over abrasions and forming a barrier that won’t crack, chip, or break—even in extreme conditions.

Complete Protection, Inside and Out

Unlike paint or conventional coatings that trap rust, NHOU® oil penetrates to the base metal, displacing moisture and oxygen—stopping rust at the source. Its self-healing formula reaches deep into seams, cavities, and welds, creating a lasting barrier where corrosion starts.

Modern road brines, packed with magnesium and calcium chloride, stick to surfaces and invade areas rock salt never could. NHOU® blocks them—protecting your vehicle where it matters most.

The Trouble with Traditional Methods
Car washes often recycle water and use high-pressure jets that can force corrosive brine deeper into your vehicle’s undercarriage—doing more harm than good.

Why NH Oil Undercoating® Works
Our oil-based formula stays soft, flexes with heat, and won’t dry, crack, or trap moisture like hard coatings. It delivers superior, long-lasting protection—especially in harsh winter conditions. In our view, it’s the most effective and forgiving way to combat corrosion.

What Ingredients Make NH Oil Undercoating® So Effective?

Eco-Safe. Powerful. Proven.
NH Oil Undercoating® is a highly refined, food-grade mineral oil—nonhazardous, solvent-free, and environmentally friendly. It contains natural “green” corrosion inhibitors derived from plant and animal fats and is safe enough that even accidental pet exposure has proven harmless (though we don’t recommend it!).

Unlike traditional hard coatings, NHOU® stays soft, allowing it to migrate and creep into hard-to-reach areas like rocker panels and door cavities—places most prone to rust. It displaces moisture, blocks oxygen, and forms a lasting barrier, stopping oxidation before it starts.

Even light surface rust can help—it gives our oil something to grip, much like prepping a surface before painting. The result: durable, self-healing protection, even in the toughest conditions.

What is the difference between NH Clear & Back-N-Black Oil?

Benefit-Driven

  • Same trusted protection—now with a sleek black finish from a biodegradable tint.

  • All the performance of the original, with a black tint that improves surface appearance.

Will it void my warranty?

Absolutely not! NH Oil Undercoating® takes a completely different approach—eliminating electrical issues, improving performance, and extending vehicle life. It even helps reduce corrosion-related warranty claims, which benefits both manufacturers and drivers. That’s why it’s trusted and used by leading automotive dealerships nationwide.

Will it drip?

NH Oil Undercoating® is formulated to be low-drip. In rare cases of heavy application, minimal dripping may occur—easily cleaned with Dawn® dish soap or Simple Green®.

Coming June 7, 2025: We’re introducing a new Hybrid Oil Formula designed for zero-drip performance while delivering the same trusted protection you expect from NHOU®.

Do I need to clean my vehicle first?

Check with your dealer—each shop is independently owned. If your vehicle has heavy mud or flaky rust, it should be pressure washed, especially around the frame and wheel wells, ideally a day before service.

Note: Prep time may require scheduling and could involve additional costs.

Can it be applied if my vehicle is wet?

Yes—our oil-based formula chases water, allowing for application even on damp days. In fact, moisture can enhance its ability to penetrate tight seams and crevices. Unlike products that mix with water, NHOU® displaces it—ensuring better, longer-lasting protection.

Note: While dry conditions are ideal, application during heavy rain is not recommended.

How soon can I wash my car?

After a BOSS Wax® application, wait at least three weeks before using a high-pressure undercarriage wash.

For NHOU® Oil Undercoating, undercarriage washes should generally be avoided. However, it is acceptable—and recommended—to clean the undercarriage prior to your next service.

Keep in mind: Most car washes recycle water, which often retains road salt. High-pressure systems can force salt back into body cavities, doing more harm than good.

How is it applied?

NHOU is atomized under high pressure which pushes the product deep into the seams, cracks and crevices where corrosion starts. Once applied, the product removes the moisture in these areas and provides a strong adherence to these surfaces, remaining active with excellent “creeping” and self-healing abilities.

SMOKE & ODOR NOTICE

You may notice smoke and odor from the underside of the vehicle the first time the vehicle is driven. This is due to a small amount of overspray vaporizing on the exhaust system. It is harmless and should cease quickly.

BRAKES NOTICE

Braking Notice:
You may hear a slight grinding noise after application. This is typically caused by minor overspray on the brake linings and is not a safety concern. The sound should stop after a few normal braking cycles.

Paint Advisory:
NHOU® products do not prevent scratches, peeling paint, or stone chips. Prompt repair of any exterior paint damage is recommended to prevent surface rust or corrosion.

How often should NH Oil Undercoating be applied?

While driving conditions may vary, we recommend an annual NHOU® application to ensure consistent protection.
Think of it as affordable insurance—a small yearly investment that adds long-term value, safety, and rust protection to your vehicle.

What is the bulk flash point of NH Oil Undercoating® NAS?

The bulk flash point of NH Oil Undercoating® NAS is 425 F.

Will NH Oil Undercoating® harm electrical connections?

No. NHOU is non-conductive and will not harm electrical connections. Make sure that all connections are made before applying NHOU.

What 'military spec' means is clear and important.

A military specification (MIL-SPEC) is a document created by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to ensure standardization in the design, production, and performance of materials, products, and systems used by the military. These specifications are critical for achieving interoperability, reliability, maintainability, and logistical efficiency across various defense-related applications.
