What is Oil-Based Rust Proofing?
Unlike paint or conventional undercoating, which encapsulates rust and traps moisture, NHOU undercoating formulas are mineral-oil-based to penetrate through rust to the base metal. Our formulas are engineered to be self-healing as they displace moisture and remove oxygen—eliminating the possibility of rust. Our undercoating products are formulated to penetrate deep into seams, body cavities and spot welds, creating a barrier against the elements.
Protection Against Road Salt Brine
The salt brine (liquefied salt) used on today’s roads is far more damaging to vehicles than the rock salt that was traditionally used. Because it’s liquid, the extremely corrosive solution penetrates deep into your vehicle’s body cavities and immediately begins corroding your frame. Many of these road brine solutions contain magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, and additives to help them stick to surfaces. The problem is, they don’t discriminate and also stick to your vehicle. For most people, a car wash is their maintenance program. Unfortunately, many car washes recycle water, not eliminating all of the corrosive solutions. Additionally, car washes force high-pressure water into your vehicle’s undercarriage where it was never intended to be.
